Autumn is definitely my time of year. Not only is the weather just perfect for me, but the colours are fantastic.
The deep oranges, coppers, reds and bronze just ooze from nature. I even get inspired by the array of green, purple and orange that’s found in many of Autumn’s food.
So inspired, that I published a post last year providing some Fall inspiration. If you missed it, you can check it out here.
It is a great colour palette to entertain with as the colours work so well together but can also be great compliments and anchors to a wide variety of other hues.
Right now I’m really crushing on metallics, and Fall colours, well they were made for metallics.
But you want to make sure to have the right mix of colours and textures in your design. Too many metallics and your party gets a bit brazen. Use them with a steady hand in little elements to add a touch of interest.
I also think that you can mix and match metallics. Try using bronze and rust together, or brown with eggplant.

Interweaving metallics with matte finishes creates depth and interest to your table and decor. The beauty of Autumn is explored in this example with golds, browns and touches of natural twig.

Adding metallics in a playful way, like through font on menu and escort cards and painted pumpkins, helps to build on an autumn theme.

In a neutral decor and with white china, metallics can add a sense of warmth. Look for whimsical ways to incorporate as done here with woven circular placemats and stacked, painted books.

Keeping a consistent colour scheme with mostly matte elements let’s the metallic touches stand out like the gold chargers and mini pumpkins in this example.

Little whimsical elements like these small pumpkins can carry through the metallic theme well. Elevating items on pedestals creates an interesting focal point.
Metallics work so beautifully with an Autumn colour palette that no matter how you choose to incorporate them into your decorating and decor, it is sure to be a success.

I totally agree. Metallics and any season in fact…lol. I’ll be at BlogPodium this weekend so I’ll be sure to say hello 🙂
I know Nike, metallics are always my go-to for a little glam (and sparkle too). I really love how you infuse little touches of metallic and reflective items in your space to add interest and depth. Great design eye.
the photos are so amazing: endless ideas
Thanks so much. I love how the shimmer of metallics plays off so well with Autumn hues.
