I really do love the holidays. But, my absolute favourite thing to do, is to decorate. And I’m always thinking of interesting and fun ways to bring something new to my holiday decorating and this DIY Tinsel Wreath is just it.
And it really is ridiculously easy to make.
All you need is a tinsel garland, a styrofoam wreath mold and push pins.
Tinsel garlands can really be found anywhere. Your local craft store, Dollar Store, even Hardware Store has good selection and usually you can find them priced quite reasonably.
Just follow these steps and you’ll have a fun holiday tinsel wreath that will be perfect for your holiday entertaining.
Step 1: Select a Wreath Size and Garland
-You can find the styrofoam wreath mold at any craft store. I prefer a more solid styrofoam that gives a good base and structure to the finished product.
Step 2: Grab a few Push Pins
-Opt for push pins with fun colours. They likely won’t be seen, but if they do peek out, the interesting colour will add something fun to your design.
Step 3: Secure One End of the Garland to the Styrofoam Wreath
-Use your push pin to secure the end in place.
-Make sure to secure right in the middle of the garland width where the tinsel is the most concentrated.
Step 4: Feed Garland through the Ring and Wrap Around the Mold
Step 5: Continue Wrapping Garland Around until Mold is Covered
-You may opt to add some more push pins to secure pieces of the garland in place
-There is no uniform pattern, just secure where you think you need to
That’s it! So super easy!
You can experiment with different colours and styles to create so many different looks, from something whimsical to more traditional.
It really is so super easy and probably takes about 7 minutes from start to finish! So go out there and make your own creation. And don’t forget to share with us the final results!
